Fanfiction Friday: Lvely Vmin

I haven’t done a Fanfiction Friday in a long time, but while I was in my reading slump, I was reading fanfiction and threadfics through Twitter almost daily. I was so inspired by some of these authors that I created a second Twitter in case I ever wrote threadfics of my own. The one author that kept me coming back was lvelyvmin or Em. She writes fanfiction mostly about Taehyung and Jimin of BTS, but she sometimes writes stories about the other members of BTS.

I love hybrid fics, but most fanfiction in this genre are just for wolf hybrids so that the stories can focus on heats and ruts. Em isn’t like this. She writes hybrid stories for different animals, and none of them really focus on the sexual sides of those animals, but instead focus on the sweet and unique characteristics of each species.

Along with writing threadfics on Twitter, she writes beautiful full-length Archive Of Our Own stories. She also makes AMAZING moodboards for almost all of her fics, big or small, and you can view them all in the master threads linked below. Here are my top 4 favorite fics of hers. If you want to view a full list of all her fics on Archive of Our Own, threadfics on Twitter, and story ideas, click here.

The bear hybrid universe that Lvelyvmin has created is beautiful. Tae is a bear hybrid, and he struggles to date as many people view him as “boring” during his hybernation. Jimin loves him for who he is, and is willing to learn everything about bear hybrids to support his boyfriend.

This master thread includes short stories about Vmin’s early relationship, and stories of them more established down the line. My favorite stories in this universe are about Vmin adopting other bear hybrid children. No one wants bear hybrid children in this world as they are considered to be burdens because of their hybernation. Vmin want to help as many children as they can fit in their family, as Taehyung knows what they need and how to take care of them.

Lvelyvmin’s panther hybrid universe is just as good as the bear universe. Jimin is the hybrid this time, and he is persecuted by society because he is a predator. The society views predators as being dangerous, so no one wants to be with them. Tae is a sweet human who loves Jimin for the sweet man he is. Jimin would never hurt anyone, and Tae is determined to prove that to people. He also has a son, who Jimin immediately falls in love with. They face prejudice from society as everyone thinks that Jimin shouldn’t be trusted around children. Whenever Jimin stars to feel down, Tae always reminds him of what a good father he is. The little mini stories included in this universe are amazing, I would definitely recommend that you read all the threads in the master thread linked above!

This adorable fic is actually on Archive of Our Own, and it is about Jimin, a makeup Youtuber, and his tattoo artist boyfriend. This was one of the first full-length fics that I read from lvelyvmin, and I loved it. The two are both artists and they fit each other perfectly, and I loved both fics written about these two characters. The first one I read was when Jimin was doing a “boyfriend does my makeup” challenge with Tae. Tae is a tattoo artist, but he is an artist nonetheless, and the entire video is just Jimin realizing how much his boyfriend really pays attention to and supports his makeup career. Definitely a must-read.

I love universes where someone is a supernatural being trying to protect their very human partner. Tae wants to make sure that Jimin isn’t actually hurt by the dangerous ghosts and demons around them, but he also wants to allow Jimin to keep his dreams of his supernatural show. So he has to toe the line between allowing Jimin to see “proof of supernatural beings” and scaring the real ghosts away. I hope that this au is expanded on even more, or maybe into a full fic, but we will see what happens!

Thanks for reading these recommendations, I hope you like Lvelyvmin’s stories as much as I did!

The Versatile Blogger Award!

The Versatile Blogger Award.png

I was tagged for this award twice, by Mandy at Devouring Books, and Soulful Spirit at Our Crazy Life. Thank you guys so much for these tags!

RULES!

• If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger Award
• Thank the person who gave you the award
• Include a link to their blog
• Select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly
• Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award
• Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself

Since I was tagged twice, I will give you 14 things about myself.

1) I am an 18-year-old African-American girl.

2) I am a freshman in college studying Global Business!

3) I was homeschooled until high school. Then I switched to public school, which wasn’t that bad.

4) I’m a fairly good test taker and got a 1500/1600 on my SAT on my second try. Didn’t really affect where I went to college, as my school’s Honors program barely required over a

5) I love Kpop and have seen Day6, Astro, VAV, and DPR in concert. I am going to see ACE in NYC in December. My favorite concert was VAV because I got a free autographed album and got to have a fan sign with the members, and I got called on stage! My least favorite was DPR, the venue was awful and someone shoved their way into my place on the balcony at the start of the concert so I just gave up and watched the concert on the little TV’s on the couch.

6) I read ebooks really quickly, but I enjoy reading physical copies more. I can also be a little more judgemental with physical copies though, as I find myself remembering the small details that I didn’t like in the story more.

7) The game in my Steam library with the most hours is Stardew Valley, at 81 hours. I got about 20-30 of those hours in a week or two in the summer of  2016. I had nothing to do, and I fell in love with the game so I just played it nonstop. It almost made me sick, I was getting up, playing the game, eating, playing, and sleeping. I was dreaming about the game! But after I stretched to a more healthy amount of play, I enjoyed it more.

8) I think that the game I have played the most in all my life was the virtual world Build A Bear Ville or Bearville for short. I played that game from the time it came out in 2007 until around 2011, but then I stopped playing for a bit and tried out other games. I tried out SecretBuilders, Club Penguin, Pixie Hollow, and Webkinz, but I just kept coming back to Bearville. I loved it so much! Then it shut down, and I wish I had played it more when I had the chance.

9) I have both food and environmental allergies. The foods I am most allergic too are mostly types of nuts, such as peanuts and walnuts. I handle my allergies fairly well, but more often than not I have some sort of sinus issue going on.

10) One of my new dreams is to be invited to be on a panel at someplace like BookExpo. I would love to be able to tell others about how I got started reviewing books, and encourage other kids to do what I did. But I think I need to have more followers before I will get invited to anything like that XD

11) I want to support as many African American and other minority authors as possible. Sometimes I see that they are pushed to the site in the publishing world, so I hope to be able to connect with them and support them on their journies.

12) I love watching documentaries or opinionated BookTube videos as I procrastinate on something.

13) There are three things that I remember staying up late at night to do when I was a kid, or waking up early in the morning to sneak in an hour or two. 1) Read Harry Potter. 2) Play Club Penguin for DS Lite. 3) Play Toy Story 3 for DS Lite. These seem so random and I don’t know why my 10-year-old mind chose those things, but I did.

14) I struggle with high fantasy novels, but I always want to read that genre of books and get swept up into a new world. I just can’t keep track of everything.

15) My real name isn’t Briennai, but Alex. I created Briennai because I used it in video games and because I was only 16 and didn’t really want people looking for me. Now I want to be able to use this blog for job interviews and the like so I might go by my real name more.

True Beauty Webtoon Review

True Beauty

Jugyeong is a college-aged girl who has created the “perfect look” for herself. Now people recognize her wherever she goes, and she has a famous Instagram account that is recognized even by Kpop stars! Secretly, she is just an average-looking girl who mastered the art of makeup at around 13 years old. No one knows when she was an unpopular girl, bullied by the “pretty” girls, and wishing that she was born pretty.

I love the fact that Jugyeong is secretly normal, and has “nerdy” hobbies. This is honestly the truth, a girl might look pretty on the outside but she that doesn’t mean she has to be an empty shell. So far in this comic, I am loving Jugyeong without her makeup because it allows her true personality to come out. She doesn’t have to be perfect, and she can enjoy what she wants.

One thing that I also appreciated is that this comic doesn’t go from Jugyeong not knowing anything about makeup to being a makeup professional. She had her experience with embarrassing makeup choices, and practiced over the break until she went to a new school and became the “pretty” girl.

To be honest, Jugyeong is not even harming herself in any way by putting on makeup. She didn’t starve herself to try to be “thin,” but instead used makeup as an artistic way to become the girl that she “dreamed” of being. She might have had to change her personality for her new friends, but she didn’t completely change herself. I hope more of these things are discussed later in the book, but there are only 5 episodes as of today. I wasn’t lucky enough to get to read the whole thing while it was still in “Discover” TnT

Hopefully, if she gets a boyfriend in this comic, the boyfriend will have a secret nerdy side and they can just chill together. I would hate for her to take her makeup off and then her boyfriend breaks up with her.

The one thing that confused me is the fact that the summary says she is in high school, but the first episode says that she is 21 years old. Then, the comic goes back to her high school years to talk about how she started with makeup. There aren’t really enough episodes to see what time the majority of the comic will be set in, but for now, I am going to say that she is college-age.

I would recommend this comic to anyone looking for a story of a girl who became “pretty” without starving herself or stripping herself o her personality. Very positive! Also fun for Kpop fans, as it references some pop culture and is set in Korea,

Overall Rating: 6 out of 5 stars

VAV Concert Experience!

VAV continue the 'She's Mine' comeback celebrations with a ...

I still can’t believe that I was able to go see VAV live.

I’ll admit, I am a new fan. I was only going to this concert so that a friend of mine would have someone to go with. I love all groups, but I just didn’t have the time to look into every single one, so I just catch concerts when I can. I knew all their songs, but I was still trying to remember names and I didn’t know any of the inside jokes.

I showed up to the concert around 4:30. I thought that they were going to let us in, but we ended up not even walking in till around 6 or 6:30. This was a standing concert so I just had to get used to standing up, but it was definitely tiring. Luckily, a woman in an ice cream truck came around to sell water, snacks, and ice cream! It also wasn’t too hot out, but I hope they get this situation straightened out at the venue before winter. I am not standing outside in below freezing weather for an hour and a half.

I paid 180 dollars for a free album, fansign, front area “space” to stand, hi-touch, and group photo. Honestly, for any group, this is a steal! I paid almost the same amount to sit all the way in the back and get a poster for Day6, and to sit all the way in the back and get a hi-touch for Astro. If this is the typical prices for this venue’s concerts, I don’t mind standing. Honestly.

The fansign went really smoothly. They gave us nametags and wrote our names in Korean while we were standing on line, so all of the members of VAV were able to read my tag and say my name as they were signing my album. It made it quite personal and sweet.

After the fansign, we got into our spots to stand for the concert. A really awesome group came and did dance covers to some of VAV’s songs! I was able to find a video of it, albeit not the best quality. One of the girls in the video, with the pink hair, is only 10 or 11 years old! She is in a separate group, and I found her Instagram. Please support them, they are really talented.

https://www.instagram.com/jamiethecute/

https://www.instagram.com/aurora.0fficial/

Also, the guy in the white shirt is part of a new group too! Here are links to support him:

Then the concert started, and every time the group took a break from dancing to do an activity, they turned the spotlights on the VVIP area! All the group members were interacting with us, waving and pointing at the signs that some people had made. It was really sweet.

Then, the best thing happened! I got invited on to the stage! I was able to take a selfie with ACE  while on the stage, and that made me feel really special.

They performed a bunch of songs, and it was their first concert in the US EVER, so they were nervous about some things. In particular, Ayno rapped a song from his mixtape, and he said that he was really nervous about rapping in the US as it is kind of sacred rap ground. He did amazing though, so he really had nothing to be worried about.

Here’s a link to one of the performances, and if you go to the channel of the uploader, you will find videos of almost every single performance that night! I’ve been having phone issues so I couldn’t record myself, but I am glad that someone kept a high-quality record of the fun that night.

As they are a fairly new group, they didn’t have tons of songs to sing. They also covered quite a few American songs, which was a lot of fun as everyone sang along. The only sad part was that a girl got sick during one of the songs, I think she fainted and might have hit her head on the stage? The members of the group really care about their fans. One of them saw the girl faint even before the security did, stopped singing, alerted the security, and tried to signal for the sound people to stop the music. Eventually, other members joined in, and then the crowd moved apart so that the girl could be escorted to the lobby. One of the fans was even an EMT and ran to the front so that she could administer first aid. The entire time, the guys looked like they wanted to jump off the stage and help the girl themselves. It is so sweet how much they care about their fans, honestly.

Everything went smoothly after that, and the concert was over too quickly. Then, we all remembered that we still needed to get our group photos! The staff worked hard to keep things orderly, escort the GA people out so that they could get their pick a pose tickets, and lined up the VIP and VVIP people for the hi-touch and group photo. The bar even gave people free ice water, as some of us had been standing for 4-5 hours at this point.  It went by quickly, and then it was over.

I literally have nothing bad to say about this concert. Even the fans were supportive of each other! Most of us were multi-fandom, and so we stood in line talking about the other concerts we had been to. Some of us had gone to the same ones! Even the older fans were appreciated and included. It was just such a positive experience, unlike how toxic some fandoms of bigger groups can be. It almost felt like being in a big happy club.

I will definitely be supporting VAV from now on, and I will be going to their next concert when they come back to the US. They had best come back to the US, I miss them already  😦

The next concert I am going to is DPR in October! While at the VAV concert, Studio PAV teased that they would be bringing another KPOP group to America in December. I also saw on Twitter that ACE plans to come to America for a tour in December, so if they are coming, then I will definitely be going to their concert. I will keep you all updated! Thanks for reading 🙂

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Stories that I Read When Sad

Are any of you like me? I tend to turn to a specific book when I have a bad day or am in a bad mood, and that book always makes me feel better. A lot of these are actually going to be fanfictions, but a couple will be books. Most of the time I turn to fanfiction stories, which are sometimes as long as books, but often include a lot more fluff.

1) Off and Away

Off & Away
This picture book always cheers me up when I read it, and it is a fairly short read. The art is so colorful!

2) The Mermaid’s Escape

The Mermaid's Escape (The Siren, #1)

I love mermaid stories, and this mermaid reverse harem novel throws me into a world where Coral is loved by the four men she is stuck on the island with, and they work together to solve the mystery of how to get back to the mainland with her.

3) Late Bloomer

I swear I am an Alpha/Beta/Omega fanfiction addict, and this one is my absolute favorite and introduced me to those types of stories. This is a BTS-based fanfic, and Jungkook is presenting as an Omega. All of the older members have already presented, and they are determined to help Jungkook through his change and first heat. It is mature in some chapters, but the last few chapters have mostly been filled with fluff and all of the pack members. Some people think fanfiction like this might be strange because it is based on real people, but when I’m reading them I don’t really relate them with the group that much. I usually think of the fanfiction versions of them as being completely different from their real-life counterparts. Keeping this in mind, onto the next fanfiction!

4) Soulmate

In this fic, everyone has a soulmate. Yoongi doesn’t think that he believes in them, but then he meets a strange boy on the train who just takes his breath away. This has to be one of the fluffiest fics that I have ever read, as Yoongi starts to fall for Jimin and they slowly accept the soulmate bond. I swear, I read through this one like once a week.

5) Joke’s On You
OH MY GOSH this was finally updated as I was writing this, but I will put it to the side for now. This is basically the Got7 version of Late Bloomer, by the same author. In this one, Yugyeom has been pranked by his older bandmates, and for some reason it has been affecting him more than it should. Little does he know that he’s presenting as an Omega. This one has pretty consistent weekly updates, but I just get really impatient because I love it so much. Late Bloomer is pretty much finished, and now this is my new obsession.

6) Hidden Omega

This one starts off sad, but it gets better as it goes on. 21-year-old Namjoon hasn’t presented as anything and is named a dud. Due to his nasty scent, the BTS pack doesn’t treat him as a real member. He tries his best to get them to accept him, but they just can’t help themselves. Once he lands in the hospital, the other kpop packs in the area realize how much Namjoon has been through. He presents as an omega, and the five groups are determined to court him until he chooses them. Again, the beginning is sad, but once he is with the non-BTS groups, the story does get much fluffier!

7) Little Bit of Trouble

This is the first of a few little space fics that I indulge in. I just love fluff, and these have to be some of the fluffiest fics out there. These aren’t the full baby fics, just fics where members of BTS dote on 3-4-year-old adorable versions of bandmates. This one focuses on Jungkook and is reader-insert, but it is not a poorly written reader-insert like I personally hate. This one even has a lot of development with both big and little Jungkook, and his lovely Noona/girlfriend.

8) Where Skies are Blue

This is another ABO fic with YoonMin (Yoongi and Jimin) focus. I won’t spoil too much about this one because it’s pretty new and so most of the summary would be spoilers, but it gets good. I think that this will be one of my favorite ABO fanfictions yet!

9) Lover not a fighter but I’ll fight for what I love
This has to be one of the darkest fanfictions that I have ever read, and I am currently stressed because I have been left on a series of updates that all have cliffhangers for like 3 weeks, but it is okay. I’m okay. This is a mixture of little space fic and mafia/gang fic. Don’t ask me how this works, but it does, if you are into dark romance, then this is the fic for you! It has a lot of fluff though, somehow, so I do like to read it from time to time.

10) He Ain’t Heavy (He’s Our Maknae)

This is probably the most canon fanfiction on this list, and it’s really just the members of BTS taking care of their Maknae/youngest member: Jungkook! This is mostly fluffy one-shots, but it does have some angsty one-shots somehow. Everything has a happy ending though, so it is still a nice fluffy read in my opinion.

Alright, so two books and 8 fanfictions! Seems like a nice ratio XD . I will see you all next week, I might follow the typical Top Ten Tuesday post then, but if it’s something that I don’t feel like I have enough books for, I might make up a topic like I did here. Thanks for reading!
