Top Ten Tuesdays: Favorite New to Me Authors 2017

Top Ten Tuesdays were a meme created by the Broke and the Bookish in 2010. They have new themes for Top Tens every week, and this week’s theme is “Top Ten Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2018”. I plan to start doing these, but on January 16 That Artsy Reader Girl will be hosting the Top Ten Tuesdays! So let’s get started!

L.C. Mawson

Reaper (Freya Snow, #7)Trident (Freya Snow, #8)Love/Hate (Aspects, #1)

LC Mawson writes fantasy/science fiction novels. Her books include characters with different “labels” such as wheelchair-bound, deaf, autistic, bisexual, transgender, black, or white. However, as you read the story, these labels do not define the characters at all, but instead only enhance them. It only adds to the unique value of her stories, and I end up flying through each one within an hour or two. She’s my choice for my favorite author of the year.

Renee Ahdieh

The Wrath and the Dawn (The Wrath and the Dawn, #1)Flame in the Mist (Flame in the Mist, #1)The Rose & the Dagger

I loved the covers of her books and her stories. The Wrath and the Dawn is a bit of a retelling of Beauty and the Beast in my opinion, and I enjoyed it. Flame in the Mist is also a retelling of Mulan. Also, look at these covers again! They are so beautiful!

Megan Shepherd

The Madman’s Daughter (The Madman’s Daughter, #1)The Cage (The Cage, #1)Her Dark Curiosity (The Madman's Daughter, #2)

I love Megan Shepherd’s Science Fiction stories. The Madman’s Daughter trilogy was a retelling of The Island of Dr. Moreau. The Cage is a story about a girl who was kidnapped by aliens and thrown into a human zoo. All of her stories were super fast reads for me, and I plan to reread them sometime this year!

Taran Matharu

The Novice (Summoner, #1)The Inquisition (Summoner, #2)The Battlemage (The Summoner, #3)

I truly enjoyed the Summoner series. This was an example of someone truly honing their skills through Wattpad, and then go on to publishing good books. I can’t wait until more of his books come out! (Even though I never got to read the Battlemage, I gotta remember to buy that!)

Sarah J. Maas

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)

I loved the ACOTAR books, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out! I am reading the Throne of Glass series now! Also, these covers are beautiful. I love the covers of the ACOTAR series, but I have to give props to those blue buildings in the background of the new Throne of Glass cover.

That’s all for now! I might have missed a few of my favorite authors, but these are definitely my choices for now.
