I don’t know where this picture is from, but the watermark says prince-of-the-palmtrees. Either way, this is an adorable picture! Sometimes I forget that Annabeth was supposed to have blonde hair, I keep remembering the awful movies. Yes, I watched both of them, and I still haven’t finished the original Percy Jackson series! I’m sorry.

Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and Thalia go to a boarding school to rescue demigods Nico and Bianca. They run into a manticore there, and in the battle, Annabeth is taken. They run into Artemis and her hunters who are willing to help them on their next quest, which will hopefully save Annabeth. Percy must join them in order to stop Luke again and save his best friend.

I loved this story. I have read the book at least 2 times now and I remember it all the way through.  For some reason, I remember loving Nico when I read it a long time ago, but he doesn’t even have a big role in this story? This time around, I really fell in love with Zoe. I felt that she had one of the most interesting backstories, and I wish that there was more of her story in this book as well.

My least favorite part of this story was the fact that it seemed…incomplete? Yeah, it seemed incomplete without Annabeth. This might have been the point, showing how Percy and Annabeth fit each other so well. Nevertheless, this will never be my favorite PJO story simply because she is not in it. Also, the story is action-packed, but it does seem to drag just a little at certain times.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an action-adventure story perfect for both middle school and YA.

  2. I love Percy Jackson! It’s been forever since I’ve read the series so I might have to reread it one of these days. Maybe then I’ll read the Heroes of Olympus spin-off series. Great review!

Nico from Percy Jackson feels a lot like Sasuke from Naruto (Part II). Even though he doesn’t show up much, he’s still a huge contributor to a lot of the plot that Percy faces, while trying to find a meaning to his own life, and to me, has the best arc in the series about forgiveness and redemption. He might not be on the main character’s mind as Sasuke was always on Naruto’s, but Nico always had the urge to do what he felt was right for himself and his family. He’s not mindlessly good. It’d be really cool to recreate that…

    As always, insightful review.
