Paperback & ebook, 306 Pages
December 15, 20183, 2, 1… BOOM.
Things are finally looking up for the Resistance. Sure, Alessa is still processing the revelation that the best friend she’d presumed dead is miraculously alive, though far from well… And her boyfriend is being manipulated under threat of blackmail. But her quest for justice against those behind the systematic extermination of the world population is so close to victory she can taste it.
And then in a matter of seconds, everything Alessa believes in is shaken to the core. Months of preparation are obliterated. The people she cares for most are lost.
But Alessa is still standing. And Paragon must pay.
The odds are grim, but unexpected allies surface in the most unlikely of places: A new pair of citizens still under the colony’s rule who notice something amiss in the latest drama. An old adversary who realizes the error of her ways. And a veritable army of inhuman power and terrible strength, with an insatiable thirst for vengeance. The trustworthiness of each of these factions is yet to be proven, but without many other options, Alessa may have to take what she can get. Especially since the Engineers, never to be outdone, also have a few more tricks up their sleeves…
The long-awaited final installment in the riveting Stitch Trilogy, Stuck will have readers gripping their seats as Alessa and a handful of intrepid survivors usher their harrowing journey to a close, risking everything as they endeavor – once and for all – to set things right.
I have been loving this series so far! I finished Book 1 and Book 2 recently, and I am currently around 50% of the way through this one. I can tell you guys that it has been great so far, but very suspenseful, and I can’t wait to show you all my review of it. Look for my Book 2 review tomorrow, and my Book 1 review is below!
Other Books in the Trilogy
It’s only been three days, and already everything is different.
Paragon is behind her, but somehow Alessa’s life may actually have gotten worse. In a wrenching twist of fate, she traded the safety and companionship of her sister for that of her true love, losing a vital partner she’d counted on for the ordeal ahead. Her comfortable university life is but a distant memory, as she faces the prospect of surviving a bleak winter on the meager remains of a ravaged world. And if she’d thought she’d tasted fear upon seeing a ghost, she was wrong; now she’s discovering new depths of terror while being hunted by a deadly virus and a terrifying pack of superhuman creatures thirsting for blood.
And then there are the visions.
The memory-altering “stitch” unlocked something in Alessa’s mind, and now she can’t shake the constant flood of alien feelings ransacking her emotions. Haunting memories of an old flame are driving a deep and painful rift into her once-secure relationship. And a series of staggering revelations about the treacherous Engineers – and the bone-chilling deceit shrouding her world’s sorry history – will soon leave Alessa reeling…
The second installment in the electrifying Stitch Trilogy, Shudder follows Samantha Durante’s shocking and innovative debut with a heart-pounding, paranormal-dusted dystopian adventure sure to keep the pages turning.
Her heart races, her muscles coil, and every impulse in Alessa’s body screams at her to run… but yet she’s powerless to move.
Still struggling to find her footing after the sudden death of her parents, the last thing college freshman Alessa has the strength to deal with is the inexplicable visceral pull drawing her to a handsome ghostly presence. In between grappling with exams and sorority soirees – and disturbing recurring dreams of being captive in a futuristic prison hell – Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless. But the terrifying secret she uncovers will find her groping desperately through her nightmares for answers.
Because what Alessa hasn’t figured out yet is that she’s not really a student, the object of her obsession is no ghost, and her sneaking suspicions that something sinister is lurking behind the walls of her university’s idyllic campus are only just scratching the surface…
The opening installment in a twist-laden trilogy, Stitch spans the genres of paranormal romance and dystopian sci-fi to explore the challenges of a society in transition, where morality, vision, and pragmatism collide leaving the average citizen to suffer the results.
Alessa is a college student, but she has been through a lot in the past year. She started her senior year off strong, but then her parents passed away, and she was left alone. Her grades dropped and she barely got her college applications in and ended up attending a smaller college that she had originally wanted. Now, she is healing in college, and she loves her roommate/best friend for helping her through. She thinks that her biggest worries are her midterms coming up, but then she finds out that there are more sinister things happening at her school.
This premise for a science fiction novel is so unique, and that truly drew me in. I was completely committed to the college story, and when the truth came out, I was astonished. The secret was revealed a bit abruptly, but that was how it had to be to fit in with the story. I won’t spoil anything as the secrets aren’t actually revealed until the story is almost over, but it was good.
The ghost storyline was interesting, and I didn’t quite understand why it was included until the end of the book, but I definitely enjoyed it. I can’t wait to read more about it in the next book in the trilogy!
My only complaint about this story was that the end felt a bit rushed. The story felt nice and drawn out in the beginning, but after the secrets were revealed, it felt like a mad dash to the end of the book. I hope that the next book in the series takes its time just a wee bit more so that I can really start to learn more about the characters.
Besides the sped up plot, there was quite a bit of character development, again, mostly based around spoilers. I loved learning more about Alessa and her adventures in college, and then her complete transformation after the secret was revealed. There were also no grammar errors that I noticed in this edition of the book.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a new upper YA or NA science fiction trilogy with a strong female main character.
I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
