Seth Owens has always been the fun one of the group. While everyone else was struggling with issues and people from their past, he was simply here at Club Alias to have fun. No one but those extremely close to him knew of the caring genius that lay beneath his mask, and absolutely no one truly got close to those more romantic sections of his heart. Twyla had always had her head down in her studies, no time for relationships or any mindless entertainment. The two cross paths as Twyla helps her sister start a new life in a new neighborhood and Seven continues his duties as an employee of the club. Sparks fly immediately, and the story of Twyla and Seven begins.
I would recommend that anyone reading this series completely skip the first two books. I almost gave up on this series as the first two books featured a single couple that I viewed as extremely toxic. I decided to give the series another try by reading a book featuring a new couple and had a much more positive experience. You don’t miss too much by skipping these books as the rest can be read as standalone novels, so you should definitely start with this third installment!
Seven and Twyla complement each other in ways that I did not quite expect from the start of the book. I thought this was going to end up being another “innocent, sweet girl falls for bad boy” story, but the story took a bit of a different turn. Seth had an interesting job and definitely was a dominant person, but he wasn’t a bad boy. He was the class clown of sorts, the one who used humor to get through any bad situation. This made him the perfect opposite to Twyla, who would simply put her head down and delve deeper into her work to escape her negative situations. Even though they were opposites in this sense, they were both very smart people. I wish even more of the book had been spent with Seth and Twyla just talking about computers or science and bonding with one another in their own nerdy genius way.
This couple is likely my favorite couple in the Club Alias series, and that could just be because I really like Seth as a character. I feel like their romance got a little overshadowed by some of the darker events of this book, but that didn’t really affect my experience with it.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an adult romance story.
