Delta’s family has been cursed by a witch, but Delta is determined not to go down without a fight. She makes a deal with this witch that she will kill someone in three days, and in return, she and the rest of her 7 sisters will be saved. She doesn’t know who she is going to have to kill, but she steels herself to do so, as she does not want to lose herself or any more of her sisters. The witch makes the stakes even higher: if she doesn’t kill the target, she will lose her soul.
This book is definitely a modern fairytale. Delta has to fight with herself in preparation for killing anyone that the dagger may choose. She knows that murder is wrong, but one life in exchange for 4 plus her own soul does not seem to be that bad of an exchange. When she meets the person she has to murder, this only furthers her inner conflict. I found her character to be quite relatable as she goes through the battle of either saving her family and killing someone else, or dooming her family to save another person.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a short fantasy read about strong family relationships and morality.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
Overall Rating: 5/5
I missed that for a minute. I thought you were giving a horrid review of an ARC you received. Ha! Too funny… but I’m glad it turned out to be a 5 star.
XD yes the title can be a bit misleading. It was a great book though!
