Title: Harper and the One-Night Stand
Author: R. Linda
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Editor: Lori Whitwam
Publisher: Limitless Publishing
Publication Date: April 10th, 2018

A few too many cocktails in paradise, and I woke up in someone else’s bed. My ex-boyfriend’s cousin’s bed, to be exact.Huge mistake.

Nate and I agreed it wouldn’t happen again. We didn’t want to hurt Brody. Only it did happen, repeatedly, until I finally found the courage to walk away.

But I couldn’t ignore the temptation, and I soon found myself back in his bed—or on his floor—stealing secret kisses and forbidden touches, sneaking around behind everyone’s backs.

I tried so hard to resist Nate’s charms, but my resolved crumbled. How could I not be swept off my feet by water towers in the rain and deep confessions on the beach?

My Review

Every single book in this series has been a worthwhile afternoon read. I am mixed on my feelings about Harper though. She has a really tough backstory, but it isn’t reflected in her character throughout the novel. I think that a girl who had gone through some of the things that she had gone through would have some quirks, or things that would bother her that wouldn’t bother a person who had a non-traumatizing childhood. However, she seems to be a normal girl, even though most of the trauma occurred around 5-6 years ago. There was only even one scene where she showed that she was affected by any sort of bad memories. I know that romance novels that focus on this might be depressing, but I think that it would have given her character a bit more depth and description.

Nate also didn’t have that much character to me. However, I did enjoy reading about his relationship with Harper as it grew from just being a One-Night Stand to much more. This book definitely showed a new, yet realistic relationship. Both characters had their flaws, but both were able to find love in their own ways.

My favorite part of this book was the fact that all the characters from previous books still made their own appearances. We got to see how all of their stories had moved on, and how each character had grown since their books. We even got to see how the “villain” from the first story had changed.

The pacing of this story was perfect as there wasn’t a dull moment. The cover looks amazing, as I am sure you have noticed, and there were no editing errors that I noticed.

Overall, this story was definitely a short and sweet romance read, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves great contemporary romance series.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5
