They say a leopard can’t change its spots, but I beg to differ. I’m not the girl I used to be, and now is my chance to prove it.
I’m back at the high school where I burned a lot of bridges and hurt a lot of people. Only this time, I’m not a student…I’m a teacher. I want to repair the damage I caused and move on…hopefully with Bennett Sawyer.
I’m stunned when I find out Bennett just so happens to be one of my new students—and the principal’s son. I didn’t know it when we began dating, and now we’ve got to put an end to our relationship, or risk losing everything.
But the attraction between us is unstoppable, and when jealousy gets in the way, all I want to do is mark my territory, but I can’t.
With a smile like his, and a body to die for, can I stay away from him and pretend he means nothing…until he graduates in ten weeks?
My Review
I have been following this series ever since Bailey and the Bad Boy was released, and I have loved every single installment. If you have kept up with the series, you would have known why I never expected Christina to be the main character in any of the books in the series. To my surprise, she might be one of my favorite characters in the whole series after this book.
Christina had started having a relationship with a man she had met at a bar named Bennett, and she was happy for the first time in a long time. As she approached her new job, she was shocked to see that one of her new students was Bennett. Making matters worse, he is the boss’s son. If the principal found out what Christina had been doing with his son, she would be fired on the spot and face legal repercussions. But she just can’t seem to stop falling for him, and can’t bring herself to break up with him. Bennett doesn’t want to break up either, so they will just have to be sure to be really careful.
Christina has truly matured from the bratty teenage girl that she used to be at the start of the story. But in that way, all the old characters have matured. Most are married or getting married, and Bailey is pregnant with her first child. She never got into a positive relationship, so now she is in her twenties without a fiancee or husband. To be honest, she doesn’t really sound like she minded being lone before. She was just happy to have Bennett in her corner and was looking forward to being with him for a long time. Then, of course, he turns out to be one of her high school seniors, and things get a little complicated.
Bennett had spent a lot of time with Audrey, protecting her from the judgemental people at school. It got to the point where people thought that they were just dating, and he was happy with that. At least they would leave her alone then. When the woman he’d been seeing outside the school shows up as his teacher. he feels a mixture of emotions. For starters, he still thinks she’s hot. But then he worries about how their relationship will be affected. He can’t bear to lose her.
This book definitely has one of the more interesting relationship dynamics in the series. Even though they aren’t that far apart in age, Christina is older than Bennet by a few years. This series usually worked with boys being older than their girlfriends. I like that Linda makes clear to her audience that all different kinds of relationships can be healthy and positive. Christina never pressured Bennett into anything, and they were pretty good about handling their feelings at school, besides a few slipups.
The plot of this story moved at a steady pace, and I didn’t notice any grammar or formatting errors as I read the advanced version of this book. The one thing I really love about Linda is how she does POV switches so smoothly! There was never a moment where I was thinking “well who is speaking now” and getting frustrated with the storytelling.
I was definitely expecting this to be the last book in the series, but to my surprise, it wasn’t! I can’t wait to read the next installment. Keep up the great work R. Linda!
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

We’d never had a meaningful conversation, other than how tight to make the handcuffs, and I wasn’t about to start with my father as the topic.
“He doesn’t exactly scream ‘father figure,’ does he? I mean, he was laying the moves on you after school.”
“He what?”
“Don’t be daft, Christina. You’re telling me you didn’t notice the way he stood too close, or let his hand linger on your body too long?” I scoffed.
“You certainly noticed, didn’t you?”
“From the other side of the parking lot. Yes.” She was so close again, I could just reach out and pull her to me. “Did it make you feel special?”
“No. It made my skin crawl.”
“Good.” My lips curved into a small smile. I was glad she didn’t enjoy his attention.
We were silent again, watching each other. She licked her lips, and her fingers twitched in front of her. She looked as though she was fighting the urge to reach for me as much as I was.
“This,” she raised her hand after a few more moments and flicked it between us, “is over. You know that, right?”
I knew she was right. It had to end, but that didn’t mean I had to like it. We were great together. She was made for me, my hands, my body, and given enough time, it could have become something more. I said I was an ass before, but that wasn’t true. I liked her and could maybe come to care about her more, but I wasn’t that much of a jerk to continue this affair and risk her job, her reputation—hell, even her freedom. Or mine. If my father discovered our relationship, he’d kick me out without even blinking.
I pushed off the car and closed the distance between us. Her breath caught in her throat as she lowered her head and looked at the ground. My left hand rested on her hip, and my right grabbed her hair, pulling it tightly until she was staring me in the eyes. Her entire body pressed against mine. I leaned down, and my body hummed, wanting to kiss her one last time but knowing I shouldn’t. I brushed my lips against her cheek and smiled when she melted against me, trying to turn her face so I’d kiss her.
“I know,” I whispered against her ear, and then I released her, stepped back, and opened my car door. “I’ll see you at school, Ms. Brown.”
