A Court of Frost and Starlight Review (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3.1)

This is another book I read a while back, and yet forgot to review until now. I didn’t really remember that much of Wings and Ruin, but I chose to read this book over winter break to get some of that good Court storytelling before I fully tried to delve into the Throne of Glass series.

I enjoyed getting a deeper view of Nesta and seeing how she was developing as a character in the Court series. I always wondered how Feyre’s relationship with her sisters would change, as we really haven’t gotten the chance to see her alone with them living in peace much. I hope that Nesta finally gets the romance she deserves in future installments of the series. She’s older than Feyre, and she’s in this situation because of her, so I hope that she gets her happy ending soon.

The short visit with Tamlin was also interesting. I’m not sure how necessary it was, but I still wondered from time to time what was going on with him in his world. I don’t care about him as a character anymore, but he had so much history with Feyre that it was illogical to believe that he would just disappear. I feel that Maas wrote it in a great way to not make him into a “victim” but still not making him seem to be perfectly okay after Feyre.

Besides those things, I felt like the book was overall not memorable for me. I feel as if I could have gone without reading this book, or reading a summary of it, and been perfectly fine for reading the next series installment. Which is understandable for a novella, but because there are 4 years before ACOWAR and the 4th book of the series, I would have expected just a lil more meat to tide me over. I can’t really complain though, I’m not the one trying to juggle writing two bestselling series at the same time, and starting a new one in Crescent City. I will just have to be patient haha.

I would recommend this book to any fans of the ACOTAR series. If you haven’t read any of the other books in the series before, then don’t start here, as you need knowledge from the previous books to enjoy this one!

Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 books.
